Jublia 10% (Efinaconazole)

Jublia (efinaconazole) 10% topical solution is an antifungal medication used to treat toenail fungus (onychomycosis).  

How to Use Jublia

1. Preparation: Before applying Jublia, ensure your toenails are clean and dry.
2. Application: Apply Jublia with the provided brush applicator. Cover the entire toenail, the toenail edges, and the skin directly surrounding the toenail.
3. Frequency: Apply Jublia once daily, preferably at the same time each day, for best results.
4. Duration: The duration of treatment is typically 48 weeks, as per doctor's prescription.

 

How It Works

• Mechanism of Action: Jublia works by inhibiting the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. This disruption leads to increased membrane permeability, causing essential cellular components to leak out, resulting in the death of the fungal cells.

 

Common Side Effects:

• • Ingrown toenail
  • Redness, itching, or swelling around the toenail
  • Skin irritation or rash near the application site

 

Serious Side Effects:

• • Severe allergic reactions (rare): Swelling of the face/throat, difficulty breathing, severe dizziness.
  • Nail discoloration or brittleness

 

Precautions

• Allergies: Inform your doctor if you have any allergies, especially to efinaconazole.
• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Discuss with your doctor the risks and benefits of using Jublia during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
• Nail Polish or Other Products: Avoid using nail polish or other cosmetic nail products on the treated toenails.

  Storage: Store at room temperature away from light and moisture. Missed Dose: If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it's near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule.
